Las Vegas has some of the trendiest and most contemporary clubs, you can find anywhere in the USA, Europe and the world. It has a special nightclub culture where folk dress up as trendily and fashionably as possible, yet keep it down. Club wear is simple, yet sophisticated. You can choose from a plethora of good clubs like, The Bank, Tryst, Body English, Pure, Jet, LAX and Tao, and a whole lot of spots, each as hip as the other. My favorites are Tryst and Body English, for which I add that extra oomph in my dressing. Your favorite club depends on your own personal style and choice. Nonetheless, for all of them you will need to be well dressed.
Over kill isn’t necessary. You needn’t look ostentatious or overdressed, in gaudy colors and flashy outfits. Club wear is superlative, simple and stylish. You need to ‘stand out’ among the crowd yet not ‘stick out like a sore thumb’. So don’t wear crumpled trousers or awfully baggy jeans. If your jeans are washed and well pressed, they will compliment your upper garments well. A cheese-cotton or seer sucker shirt is good, but the rumpled effect will make you look like a scruff-ball rather than a swinger.
New York, Miami, Los Angeles and Las Vegas are renowned for their elegant fashion and panache. Don’t ever try wear wallet chains, baseball caps, flip-flops, ghetto apparel, torn and ripped jeans. These will definitely get you rejected at the club door. Any athletic clothes such as track suits and track shoes or even tennis shoes will get you instantly debarred from entering the club. Shoes should almost always be black. If you want to wear sports shoes, and then be sure they’re black, including the laces. Jerseys and tank tops are casual wear not club wear. Sneakers (tennis shoes), Tee shirts and shorts are on the list of club wear that’s taboo.
You may escape the scrutiny by wearing a collarless shirt, as during tourist season many visitors to Vegas wear them. Dress pants combined with a baseball cap will get you the boot. Avoid a hat if possible. A couple of clubs allow them but they must be au courant, chic and gel well with your attire. Sunglasses are beach wear and not club wear, meant for protecting the eyes against harmful UV radiation from the Sun. Enjoy the psychedelic lights while you dance and keep sunglasses at home( an exception for blind folk).
So what can a guy wear to a club in Las Vegas? A stylish collared shirt, well pressed jeans or dress trousers, black shoes and an additional jacket in winter, matching with both shirt and trouser, are suitable club wear. Shorts don’t go well with a tux or dinner jacket. Keep the weather in mind when you dress. Light cottons for summer and warmer acrylics for winter with a light jacket thrown in for good measure, especially if it gets windy ( which is almost any time of the year).
A first impression is a lasting impression and that begins at the door of any club.
Avoid an embarrassing situation in front of friends, family, peers and kids. Be bright and dress right. You’re in Las Vegas boy, so dress your nattiest look the sexiest and let the good times roll. See you later……all you ‘gators.
